strip wound hoses
Stripwound hoses are rugged, flexible metal hoses constructed by roll-forming a profile onto a single metal strip and helically winding it over a mandrel so that the edges interlock. Unlike corrugated hoses, their flexibility is purely mechanical, originating from the sliding action within the profiled, overlapping sections.
The metal strip is formed with legs that lock together, offering a highly rugged, general-purpose build.
Features an additional internal metal liner. This creates a smooth surface to reduce friction, eliminate turbulence, and prevent delicate materials from breaking.
A packing material (such as cotton, elastomeric, copper, or stainless wire) is fed into the interlocked profile during manufacturing to minimize leakage and increase pressure limits.
The strip is formed into simple square shapes that lock loosely together, maximizing flexibility.
